Passing House Bills 5916 and 5917 Means More Puppy Mills

Our in-house animal activist, Joe Sowerby, is part of an "army of animal rights activists" who are trying to stop HB 5916 and 5917 that, if passed into law, would relinquish local control of pet shops and increase the use of puppy mills. Read Jameson Cook's Macomb Daily story from May 22nd by clicking on the image for more information on these bills.

Meet Your Best Friend

25 years ago, our Joe Sowerby hosted his first Meet Your Best Friend event at the Detroit Zoo. Since then, over 25,000 animals have been placed in their new homes, with their new "fur"ever families. Meet Your Best Friend has become one of the largest off site animal adoption events in the United States. The Detroit Zoo, partnered with the Michigan Humane Society, will host the May event on Friday and Saturday.

Over $26,000 raised for Macomb County Warming Center

The first annual The Warmth of Music fundraiser for the Macomb County Warming Center was held on March 25 at O'Halloran's Public House in Mount Clemens. Our Joe Sowerby stepped up to the plate, to serve his late mother's legacy, after learning that the center would be losing $40,000 in state and federal funding. The event raised over $26,000 between sponsorships, ticket sales and raffles.
